One of our most frequently asked questions is about the different types of collagen. Our unflavored collagen peptides contain types I and III whereas our capsules contain types I, II, III, V, X but what does that mean? Read on because today we are answering all of your questions on types of collagen!
What do the different types mean?
The type of collagen in a product depends on the source. For example, our unflavored collagen peptides contain types I and III because they are sourced from bovine whereas our marine collagen contains type I because it is sourced from fish. When you see a multi-collagen product such as our capsules, that means the product contains collagen from many different sources in order to provide additional types of collagen.
What types of collagen does Collagen For Her contain?
Our different products contain different types of collagen because they come from different sources. To make things easy, here is a cheat sheet of all of our products, what types of collagen they contain, the source, and grams of collagen per serving.
- Types: I and III
- Source: Bovine
- Grams of Collagen: 11g per scoop
- Types: I
- Source: Fish
- Grams of Collagen: 5g per scoop

- Source: Bovine, Fish, Chicken, Eggshell

What is the “best” type?
There is no such thing as “the best type” of collagen. Like we said, the types of collagen depend on the source and bovine or fish is not better or worse than the other, it just depends on personal preference on which you want to use.
Can you mix and match products to get different types?
Yes! All of our products are designed so you can mix and match them if desired. If you want the five types of collagen in our capsules but want the additional Vitamin C, biotin, and hyaluronic acid in our Marine Collagen Beauty Blend, they can be taken alongside each other.
